Midcentury Poseable Floor Lamp by Busquet for Hala Zeist – Fully Restored

What’s the story?

Designed by H Busquet for highly regarded Netherland’s lighting manufacturer, Hala Zeist, this lamp has quite the heritage. The design dates from the mid 1950s, just prior to Busquet retiring, and its unique selling point is that the stem can be rotated a full 360 degrees. Called the ‘ball in socket’ light, there is a ball joint in the heavily weighted base to stop the lamp toppling over when angled. There’s a further ball joint at the spotlight to get precision illumination, right where it’s needed. This extraordinary feature makes this a particularly striking and sculptural light. The dark chocolate brown spotlight has an integral switch at the back and overall, it’s in superb vintage condition, quite remarkable given its age and history.

Description

This lamp is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good working order and has been fully serviced and PAT tested. It does come with some minor scuffs, tarnishing and dents here and there as shown but in the overall context of the piece they are minimal and don’t detract from its vintage appeal in our view. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of colour and condition.
