Danish 1960s Diabolo Floor Lamp by J Hammersborg for Fog & Mørup – Fully Restored

What’s the story?

A rare and special find, this is a collector’s piece, designed by Johannes Hammersborg for Fog & Mørup in the 1960s. The large, double-sided spotlight shape gives it its ‘Diabolo’ name. We love the combination of brushed silver, chrome and black in perfectly balanced design harmony across this piece. Renowned Danish designer, Hammersborg, joined Fog & Mørup in the late fifties and as head of design, he meticulously oversaw every last detail of its modernist lighting output. He went on to champion the company’s most successful period during the sixties. These floor lamps simply don’t become available very often – we’ve spotted one other online marketed at £1000! Tall in stature, elegant and architectural in design, there are three lighting modes selected through a floor switch. The height of the lamp can be adjusted dramatically by the double stem mechanism.
