• What’s the story? What a charming little thing this is. A Victorian-era (so 19th century) crumb tray and horsehair brush. British in origin, the brush is stamped 'Forbes Newcastle'. This was used to clear debris and crumbs from the dining table. Small and discreet, the oak tray comes with a brass handle. Acquired from a lady who had owned it for 25+ years.   Free UK Delivery!

  • What’s the story? This is a little charmer. Dating from the early 20th century, it's a pretty oak sewing table / box. Lift the lid to find a spacious compartment for your latest projects. And below there is a slim drawer designed for spools of thread. It comes with a range of its original contents... needle cases, fastenings, buttons and wooden reels. We love the long cabriole legs. A super gift for the seamstress, knitter, crafter in your life. But it doesn't have to be used as originally intended. The proportion of this little table would make it an excellent nightstand.     Free UK Delivery!

  • What’s the story? If you know someone who is a letter writer, plans to pen their great novel, or who regularly journals, this would be a wonderful gift. It dates from the Victorian era and it's a tabletop writing slope, complete with a pen tray and storage space inside for papers, cards and notebooks. It also has a working lock and key so you can keep your thoughts hidden from prying eyes. Nicely made with an unfussy, simple design.   Free UK Delivery!

  • What’s the story? Would you have know what this is? We fell in love with the thick slab of solid mahogany first and foremost (such a rare and special find these days) before considering what it might have been made for. It has a beautiful aged patina and a substantial weight to it, a fine piece of wood. It has a handle grip so clearly designed to be carried. And on one side there's a curious hand-carved grid along with a wooden bar and rubber bungs at strategic points. It's a scratch-made tap dance board. The lines and bar are there as guides for learning tap steps, and then the blank reverse would have been for practice without. We've no idea on date but we would hazard a guess that it's pre-sixties, possibly even dating back to the early 20th. Regardless, this is a super thing with a cracking back story. We've restored the blank side, carefully sanding it back without removing all the ageing and character and then it's been finished with food-safe oil for a durable finish. It would make a grand sharing platter for cheeses and meats.   Free UK Delivery!
