A handsome, vintage ceramic vessel, clearly inspired by Japanese tea bowls, both in terms of shape and colour. Its exterior is richly marked with different tones and motifs on a speckled base of orange. A lovely little thing as a decorative object, a pot for keeping treasures safe or as a small bowl for nibbles.

A pretty, little jug for cream, posies or dry stems. It's adorned with an abstract dragon fly motif, synonymous with Andrew Hague. Variations on this theme can be found throughout his work from Askrigg Pottery, his studio where much of his work is produced. We love the colour palette of this piece with bands of blues and greens on a pale base.

This little mid-century ceramic is such a sweetie. We love its small, round-bellied form, perfect for a single dramatic bloom or seed head. This may well be Welsh in origin, an Abaty Cymru studio pottery piece as the hand-rendered circular motifs were a signature design of this period. it does have a potter's stamp but we've been unable to attribute it definitively. Beautifully thrown with a speckled glaze finish.

There's a very good chance this is an Abaty Cymru studio pottery piece, as the round swirl motif is seen on many vases, jugs and bowls from there. A well-thrown, medium-sized vase with handpainted circles within circles of brown glaze in a band around its body. It's chunky and substantial, in great original order and full of vintage character.

Not all midcentury West German pottery pieces are equal in our view but we love the simple elegance, colour and design of this particular piece. Weighty and large enough to be set on the floor, we love the exaggerated roundness of the handle and the texture of the speckle glaze. It's topped and tailed in a chocolate brown which vignettes into pale cream in between.

There is great deal to love about this European, midcentury, ceramic wall plaque. It hails from San Marino, dates from the fifties and we believe it is by produced by SAM. Illustrating a bustling Chinese street scene, it's full of life, movement and colour. And the colours are extraordinary, vivid and bright. The various characters depicted have so much character without becoming cartoonish. They're superbly drawn. The background has an unusual textured, bubbled surface, further adding to its appeal. Our favourite thing... the two angry roosters in the man's basket on his back. On the reverse, thread is cleverly looped through the pottery slab for hanging.

It’s the original hot water bottle used from Victorian times through to the 1950's until flat rubber ones came along. This two pint bottle comes with its original stopper. It has a two-tone glaze in cream and brown with relief decoration around the carrying knob and a design that’s plain, durable and functional. It's a little worn and cracked as seen in our photos and this is reflected in our price but regardless, this is ideal for the rustic, cottage core look.
