Original Vintage Midcentury Meg Potter Smoke Fired Dish – Signed

An interesting, enigmatic, little dish, this. Attributed at acquisition to ceramicist, Meg Potter, there isn’t a great deal of information about her other than she was born in 1944. A signature detail in her work is the smoke fired finish of her ceramics which leave blackened, charred marks on the surface and you can see that here on this organic, free-form piece. Inside, there is an abstract fusion of radial patterns and colourful marks with a crackle glaze in the mix too, all formed during the Raku firing process. A really interesting and unusual object, perhaps a test piece.
