A strikingly rendered sgraffito dragon adorns this handsome vintage studio pottery plate by renowned British potter, Jill Pryke. It dates from the mid seventies when Pryke was associated with the Ditchling School of Pottery. The dragon is elaborately decorated with claws out, wings extended, scales and fiery breath, he has so much personality, conveyed through Pryke’s decorative mark-making over slip glazes of red, white on a warm grey base. An expertly crafted midcentury piece. Signed.
